Senior Data Engineer

Job Responsibilities

- Partner with internal and external technology providers, third parties, senior architects, QA and infrastructure operations teams to jointly design and develop integrated solutions
- Collaborate with Product Manager and Data Analyst for requirement analysis, solution design and implementation
- Design, implement and administer Data Integration and Data Warehouse (ETL, Dimensional Modeling) solutions by combining multiple transactional systems and multiple sources of internal and external data
- Design, implement and administer various reporting and analysis
- Apply normalization/de-normalization techniques for data modeling and analysis
- Contribute to and employ best practices and strategies in optimizing the performance of data analysis and stability of data integration solutions
- Develop complex SQL queries, scripts, stored procedures, user defined functions, views and triggers for business logic implementation
- Assume end to end responsibility for executing projects in an agile development environment

You

- Major in computer science or related area of study
- 3~8 years working experience
- Motivated, initiative, structured and reliable
- Strong background and expertise in either aspect:
- Deep experience in data warehouse, data integration and data modeling. Strong data sensitivity and rich experience dealing with large-scale data in terms of storage, integration, tuning and analysis.
- Strong programming skills: Python (preferred), Java, PHP, Ruby. Rich experience dealing with data for analysis or integration through programming.
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Prior exposure to working with globally distributed teams is preferred

Big Data Engineer

Your responsibilities will include:
Design and implement complex product components based on requirements, discuss with project leader and product manager on possible technical solutions.
Write data analysis and statistic program in Hadoop ecosystem (Map/Reduce, Pig, Hive, HBase etc) with a commitment to maintaining high quality work while being confident in dealing with data mining challenges.
Get up to speed in the machine learning domain, implementing analysis components in a distributed computing environment with instruction from Data Scientists.
Be comfortable conducting detailed discussions with Data Scientists regarding specific questions related to specific data models.
Tune the performance of Hadoop and its related components.

You

You should be a strong engineer with proven experience in distributed back--end system implementation, profiling and optimization
3+ years computer development experience
1+ years development experience with Python
Hands-on experience of MapReduce and NoSql database development and performance tuning
Shell and other script language experience is an advantage
Deep knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, MapReduce, HBase, Hive, Pig etc.)
Familiar with common Machine Learning algorithm in Data Mining domain is a big plus
Passion for cloud computing and distributed systems
You must be a great problem solver, with the ability to dive deeply into complex problems and emerge with clear and pragmatic solutions
Good English spoken and written skills. You will need to be able to work with Western managers in a bilingual environment.
Major in Math or Computer Science
