Job Outline
The overall purpose of the role is to develop and deliver effective, high-quality and well-managed communications for IT Services projects, to promote awareness of services and in response to major IT changes and incidents through web sites, user guides, handbooks, newsletters, posters, announcements, forms, email notifications and social media feeds. This will involve working collaboratively with staff in the IT function as well as colleagues in other areas of the University.

• Bachelors or above degree in IT related discipline

• Master degreeITIL v3 Foundation certification or above

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Content Development
Research, produce and publish high-quality, impactful and engaging content for external and internal global communications, including IT Services webpages on University official website and internal website SharePoint.
• Research, write copy and select images for ongoing and project based communications (both online and offline) in compliance with University brand guidelines, technical standards and best practice
• Ensure that the content, style and functionality of all IT communications and channels is of the highest quality and effectively addresses the specified target audiences
• Design, preparation and dissemination of internal posters, slide packs, mailings, updates and other internal communications materials as required
• Responsible for proof reading, factual accuracy and relevance of all published content ensuring that this is updated regularly
Delivery of Digital Communications
Select the most appropriate channels for communications to maximise impact and engagement:
• Work with colleagues as appropriate to deliver the content through the most appropriate channel which may be managed by other areas of the University
• Demonstrate an excellent, in-depth understanding and awareness of target stakeholder groups in order to determine the most appropriate channel choice
• Design and implement ways of sharing news and views across the teams
Delivery of Offline Communications
Collaborate with central Marketing & Communications to produce bespoke publications:
• Project manage the creative development and production of ad hoc offline publications working with Marketing and using approved University design and print suppliers
Analytics
Commitment to analysing the effectiveness of communications messages and channels and to continuous service improvement:
• Use web analytics and available metrics to diagnose and continuously improve the effectiveness of the communications/engagement activity
• Monitor the effectiveness of websites and emails, making recommendations for optimisation
• Make decisions on web page and email templates in conjunction with the expert advice of Marketing, Communications & Recruitment
Engagement Development Projects
Undertake specific development projects as required to improve awareness of services and improve user satisfaction:
• Manage projects to improve specific touch points as required (e.g. IT information for new members of staff/new starters)
• Recommend step changes in approach to improving existing communications
General
• Develop, build and establish effective working relationships with key IT and University stakeholders
• Support director of IT Services in the preparation and delivery of communication events and roadshows to inform users regarding upcoming changes and to promote IT services
• Develop own skills and professional capability in line with the needs of the service
• Work with schools and faculties and maintain the relationship between IT Services and other departments
• Liaise with other professional service departments and support University events and conferences
• Deliver induction, introduction and training sessions in relation with IT Services to staff and students
• Manage software licenses and update other IT related procurement information when needed
• Undertake other tasks and responsibilities as appropriate to this role
