lianghai This explanation is interesting and somewhat convincing: "[t]he sensor actually is 1280x720 pixels, so it can create 720p video; that is a 16:9 format. But [for] still pictures, most still cameras take 4:3 pictures, and the iPod's camera does the same. A 4:3 picture with 720 pixels vertically is 960x720. That's 691,200 pixels, or 0.7 megapixels."
So it might be too arbitrary to say iPod touch 4th generation only has 0.69-megapixel rear camera.
