“I live here and know some rich Chinese, yes, getting a green card is popular, but it's more for backup/retirement, very few rich people are "fleeing", they may have a green card but they all stay in China since that's where their business and connections are. Most rich Chinese find American/Western lifestyles too mundane.”

They stay here just becsuse they even can not feed themselves without the connections. They wante to run away because they know their fortunes is not going to last long, even famous person like Huang Guangyu. They make money from connections and surely know how easy it will be lost.
