語源 / Etymology

cease（止む）にラテン語の cessare（止まる、やめる）を起源とし、それに否定・欠如を表す接尾辞 -less が付いた語です。つまり「止むことがない」という意味を構成しています。cease は古フランス語の cesser を経て英語に入りました。
