語源 / Etymology

ラテン語の concentrare に由来する。**con-**（共に、一緒に）と centrare（中心に置く）の組み合わせで、「一つの中心に集める」という意味を持つ。16世紀ごろから英語に取り入れられ、最初は化学で「濃縮する」という意味で使われ、やがて「精神を集中する」という比喩的な意味にも広がった。
