語源 / Etymology

ラテン語の constructio（組み立て、構築）に由来し、**con-**（共に）と struere（積み上げる、築く）が合わさった言葉である。古フランス語を経て14世紀頃に英語に入った。元々は物理的に何かを「積み上げて作る」という意味だったが、やがて文章の「構文」や抽象的な「解釈」といった意味にも広がった。
