語源 / Etymology

ラテン語の introducere（中へ導く）に由来する。**intro-**（中へ）と ducere（導く）が組み合わさった語で、16世紀頃から英語で使われるようになった。名詞形の introduction に形容詞を作る接尾辞 -ory が付いた形である。「何かの内部へ導き入れる」という原義から、「最初に紹介する」「入門的な」という意味へと発展した。
