电影《林肯》：分享一段令人印象深刻的对白，希望对大家有帮助

不知道电影是否准确，但是我第一次知道原来第十三宪法修正案（废除奴隶制度）居然是通过贿赂、恐吓、撒谎（准确的说不是撒谎，而是隐瞒不说）通过的。

这一段对白让我感受最深：

You know that the inner compass
that should direct the soul toward justice
在白人的心里本该引导他们的灵魂
通往正义的罗盘

has ossified in white men and women, north and south, unto utter uselessness
through tolerating the evil of slavery.
已经被他们容忍邪恶的奴隶制的行为
僵化得毫无用处了

White people cannot bear the thought of sharing
this country's infinite abundance with Negroes.
白人不能容忍
与黑人共享这个国家无尽财富的想法

Lincoln:
A compass, I learnt when I was surveying,
It’ll point you True North from where you're standing,
我在外勘测时，我知道罗盘的作用是
为你指出正北的方向

but it'll got no advice about the swamps
and deserts and chasms that you'll encounter along the way.
但是它不会指出沿途会遇到的
沼泽 沙漠和深坑

If in pursuit of your destination,
you plunge ahead, heedless of obstacles,
and achieve nothing more than to sink in a swamp.
What's the use of knowing True North?
如果在追寻目标的途中
你一往无前 不留心障碍困难
除了陷入沼泽哪里也到不了
那么知道正北又有什么用?

就是说如果仅仅知道什么是正义对现实并没多大帮助，因为实现正义的道路往往需要重重困难
就像指南针只能指引你北方的方向而不能告诉你途中会有很多沼泽、沙漠、深坑

有时候直接去做“对的事情”（比如解放黑奴），不一定会有好的结果（比如被南方推翻），有时候不得不做一些“不对的事情”（比如贿赂、恐吓、欺骗），才能达到最终的那个正确的目标

@ljbha007 你的意思理解成了达到目的不必拘泥于形式，我没看过电影，不过光看这句话的话，我觉得他要告诉我们的是，光有方向不行，还要注意是否可以避过障碍。
