語源 / Etymology

ラテン語の接頭辞 in-（否定を表す）と praecisus（正確に切り取られた）に由来する。praecisus は動詞 praecidere（前もって切る）の過去分詞で、**prae-**（前に）と caedere（切る）から成る。つまり「きちんと切り取られていない」＝「不正確な」という意味が生まれた。英語では17世紀頃から使われるようになり、フランス語 imprécis の影響も受けている。
