語源 / Etymology

integrated はラテン語の integrare（完全にする、一つにまとめる）に由来し、circuit はラテン語の circuitus（巡回、回路）から来ている。1958年にジャック・キルビー（Jack Kilby）が世界初の集積回路を発明し、この用語が広まった。複数の電子部品を一つの半導体チップに「統合（integrate）」した「回路（circuit）」という意味で名付けられた。
