語源 / Etymology

entire はラテン語の integrum（完全な、損なわれていない）に由来し、古フランス語 entier を経て英語に入った。接尾辞 -ly を加えて副詞化されたもの。integer（整数）と同じ語根を持ち、「欠けのない、まるごとの」という意味が核にある。14世紀頃から英語で使われている。
