語源 / Etymology

impassioned は、イタリア語の impassionare（情熱を吹き込む）に由来し、16世紀後半に英語に取り入れられた。接頭辞 **im-**（中に）と passion（情熱、ラテン語 passio = 苦しみ・感情）から成り立っている。もともと「感情を内に込められた」という意味から、「強い感情に突き動かされた」という現在の意味に発展した。
