語源 / Etymology

ラテン語の obstruere に由来する。ob-（～に対して、前に）と struere（積み上げる、建てる）が組み合わさった語で、「前に積み上げて塞ぐ」という原義を持つ。16世紀頃に英語に取り入れられた。structure（構造）や construct（構築する）も同じ struere を語根としている。
