語源 / Etymology

古英語の care（心配、悲しみ）に、「～がない」を意味する接尾辞 -less が付いた語。もともとは「心配がない、気楽な」というポジティブな意味で使われていたが、時代とともに「注意を怠る、不注意な」というネガティブな意味が主流になった。
