語源 / Etymology

ラテン語の intentio（意図、注意を向けること）に由来し、これは intendere（～に向ける、～を目指す）から派生した。**in-**（～に向かって）と tendere（伸ばす、向ける）の組み合わせで、心をある方向に「伸ばす・向ける」という原義がある。中世ラテン語で intentionalis となり、英語には15世紀頃に取り入れられた。
