語源 / Etymology

ラテン語の nutrire（養う、育てる）に由来する。これが nutritius（養う性質を持つ）という形容詞になり、17世紀頃に英語に取り入れられた。語根の nutri- は「栄養」や「育てる」という意味を持ち、nurse（看護師）や nurture（養育する）とも同じ語源である。
